This Privacy Policy explains how macros.diet collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data when you use the Service. It also explains how to access, export, or delete your data.
1. Data we collect
- Account data: identifiers, email address, profile details, authentication records, and the signup timezone handled with our authentication provider, Clerk.
- Meal data: meal descriptions, dates, nutrition details, answers, saved estimates, and your current unsaved draft so you can resume after a reload. A photo is processed to create an estimate but is not saved with your meal by macros.diet. We save food-related observations extracted from it, such as ingredients, preparation, and portion clues, with the estimate.
- Billing data: Paddle customer and subscription identifiers, plan, and subscription status. Paddle processes payment details; macros.diet does not store full card details.
- Technical data: information needed to operate and secure the Service, such as browser requests, device information, diagnostics, and security logs.
2. How we use data
We use data to authenticate you; provide meal estimates and history; enforce plan allowances; process and manage subscriptions; protect accounts; troubleshoot and improve the Service; communicate about the Service; and comply with legal obligations. Depending on your location, the legal basis may be performance of our contract, legitimate interests, consent, or compliance with law.
During meal analysis, we may search your own saved meals and send relevant descriptions, answers, observations, and estimates to OpenAI to compare ingredients and portions. We explain when past meals inform an estimate. Your current information takes precedence; past estimates are not treated as measured nutrition values.
3. Service providers and disclosures
We disclose only the data reasonably needed to providers that help run the Service, including Clerk for authentication, Paddle for billing and tax, hosting and database providers, and OpenAI for AI-assisted food interpretation. Food queries may also be sent to nutrition data providers. These providers process data under their own terms and privacy notices. We may also disclose data when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer. We do not sell your personal data.
4. Retention and security
We retain account and meal data while your account is active and as reasonably needed to provide the Service. We may retain limited records longer for security, dispute resolution, tax, payment, backup, or legal obligations. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online system is completely secure.
5. Access, export, and deletion
You can delete individual meals from their details page. This removes the saved meal and its answers. We retain its request identifier to prevent accidental recreation, and the daily usage count remains unchanged.
You may ask us to provide a portable copy of your account and meal data, delete selected meal data, or delete your account and associated data. Email privacy@macros.diet from the address connected to your account and state whether you want access, export, specific-data deletion, or full account deletion. We may verify your identity before acting. We will complete valid requests within the time required by applicable law and explain if a legal exception applies.
Deleting an account does not automatically erase records that Paddle or another independent provider must retain for payments, tax, fraud prevention, or legal compliance. Cancel an active subscription from the billing portal to prevent future renewal before requesting account deletion.
6. Your other privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to correct data, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a data protection authority. To exercise a right, contact us using the address above. You will not be discriminated against for making a privacy request.
7. Children
The Service is not directed to children who cannot legally consent to data processing in their location. If you believe a child provided data without valid permission, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.
8. International processing and updates
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, appropriate transfer safeguards apply. We may update this Policy and will post the revised version with a new effective date. Material changes will receive additional notice when required by law.
9. Contact
